Using wood ash in your vegetable garden

You might be aware that fireplace ashes can be used for a variety of different things, but did you know that they are really good for your vegetable garden? Wood ash is really good to use in the garden as a soil additive, and works wonders for vegetables especially.

Why is wood ash good for the garden?

Ashes from wood contain potassium, phosphorus and magnesium, meaning that they have a pretty high nutritional value for feeding soil. The amount of nutrients found in wood ash varies, dependant on which tree the wood comes from, but here are the normal variants of what can be found within:
