Should you hang your TV above your fireplace?

With TVs becoming more lightweight and slim line, the trend of hanging them on walls and above fireplaces has really boomed in recent years. There are a few reasons in which TVs are hung up on the wall, mainly for aesthetics. But did you know there are a few cons that go along with the pros?

In this blog, we’re going to talk about both the positives and the negatives of hanging your TV above your fireplace.

If you’re struggling to see the TV sitting in certain parts of your living room, it makes sense to raise it up so you’re all able to see it clearer. The only thing you need to be aware of, is it your TV isn’t LED. If your TV doesn’t have an LED display then you may struggle to see all of the colour correctly or it may seem washed out.

As well as improving viability, hanging your TV up is also an easy way to save space in your living room.

And the final big positive of hanging your TV up above your fireplace is the aesthetic and the way it looks! It can really change the way your room feels and it means you can make a full feature area. You could even turn the fireplace and TV into a media wall.

On the other hand, there are a few negatives that come with hanging your TV above your fireplace that you do need to know about.

It’s no surprise that metal and electronics don’t go well with heat. Overtime the heat that rises from the fireplace will damage heat sensitive parts in the TV and can actually reduce the lifespan of your TV. It could actually end up voiding your TV’s warranty as well.

Another issue that comes with having your TV at a higher level is you may develop back and neck pain from looking up at it and from it being placed at an awkward angle.
